Ledger Wallet Recovery

Ledger devices protect keys with a secure-element chip — great for security, unforgiving when something goes wrong on your side. The good news: most "locked out of my Ledger" situations don't actually require breaking into the device at all. Here's an honest map of what's recoverable.

Usually recoverable

Forgotten passphrase (hidden wallet). If you have your 24-word seed but attached a passphrase you no longer remember, the device isn't the problem — the passphrase is. With the seed plus whatever fragments you recall, we brute-force passphrase candidates on dedicated GPU hardware until the derived addresses match your funds.

Seed backup with errors. Miscopied or missing words, illegible handwriting, words in the wrong order — the BIP-39 wordlist and checksum structure make many damaged backups repairable. The same techniques we use for Trezor seed repair apply.

Broken device, seed in hand. This isn't a recovery problem at all — it's a restore, and we'll walk you through doing it safely (or do it with you over a video call), including checking whether your funds sat on the standard derivation path or somewhere less obvious.

"My coins don't show up in Ledger Live." Wrong derivation path, wrong account, an app-support change, or a migrated coin — usually diagnosable in one session, and often free advice if the answer is simple.

Honestly difficult or impossible

Dead device, no seed backup at all. Ledger's secure element is specifically designed to make key extraction infeasible; unlike some other wallets, there is no screen-swap or chip-off path we can honestly sell you. If anyone promises a guaranteed recovery from exactly this situation, read our guide to spotting recovery scams before you send them anything.

We'd rather tell you "no" in the free evaluation than take an unwinnable case — that's the whole point of a no-recovery-no-fee model.

How it works

The same five-step process as every recovery: free honest evaluation, written contract, secure transfer of material, the recovery work, and your crypto returned to an address you control — minus the published fee of 20% for wallets under 10 BTC. Nothing up front, ever. You'll be working with a named founder at a Colorado LLC, contactable by PGP, phone, Signal, or in person in Denver.
